I’m Alex Goncharov, a passionate musician, composer, and Orthodox Christian dedicated to using music to inspire and uplift. My journey with music began in the USSR, and it has been a steadfast companion through my life in Singapore and now Canada.

As a Sr. Product Manager by profession, I find balance and harmony in life through creating music, writing poetry, and engaging in missionary work. My compositions are deeply influenced by my faith, my love for my family, and my experiences training service dogs and making wooden toys.

Waltz for Masha
I wrote “Waltz for Masha” for my daughter to celebrate her wedding. This waltz captures my mixed emotions about the occasion. It starts with a bit of sadness, reflecting my feelings about letting Maria leave our family nest and start her own family. However, it ends on a major and uplifting tone, symbolizing the joy and hope for her future. The waltz is played at a moderate pace and moves between soft and medium loud parts, showing this new chapter’s calm and exciting moments. The music reflects the beauty of Orthodox Christian wedding traditions, including the betrothal, and the crowning ceremony. It also honours the support from family and friends who helped make the day special, from decorating the church to preparing the reception. This piece is a tribute to the love, faith, and community support that made Maria and Jack’s wedding day unforgettable. It reminds us that marriage is not just about being happy but also about growing together in love, and faith.

The Tale of Two Trees
Believe it or not, but “The Tale of Two Trees” was inspired by two trees in my garden. 🙂
One tree, an apple tree, was old and not very pretty but had many flowers and bees, symbolizing inner goodness and being useful. The other tree, a cherry tree, was very beautiful but didn’t help anyone because it had no fruit or bees. This music teaches us to focus on being kind and helpful, like the apple tree, rather than just looking good on the outside, like the cherry tree.
